Check out this article on Orlandosentinel.com. Schools in Florida are relying on the criminal justice system to deal with may be just bad behavior. Two-thirds of the students who are arrested at school in Florida are charged with less serious misdemeanors rather than for drug or weapon possession. “Disorderly conduct” or “trespassing” have become catch-all charges for a variety of disruptive behaviors. School officials are no longer “sending kids to the office” but instead calling police who often remove children from school in handcuffs.
