I read an article on Napavalley.patch.com that I thought you should read. In a recent press conference the NRA suggested that schools should be guarded by armed guards in response to the Newton, CT shooting. The general conciseness to the press conference by NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre is that the problem can not be fixed by simply arming more people. Rep. Mike Thompson of California’s 5th District responded by stating the problem goes beyond guns and will involve fixing background checks given to potential gun owners, fixing holes in the mental health system, banning assault weapons, and stopping the United States’ glorification of violence.
