Check out this blog post on Nytimes.com. Police in New York City have recently begun an intervention program to help minimize robberies. They approach teenagers who are likely, based on past criminal records, to commit crimes before they commit them, and provide outreach to them. The hope is that they will then transmit the message to those they spend time with, and thus further the cause from a more respected source. This method will hopefully help deter gang related crime in New York City.
