From theconversation.com – The Australian government is hoping to create a student identity card for all Vocational Education and Training students, but the path is a rocky one given Australia’s history. Twenty years ago Australia tried to establish a universal identity card, but it failed to come to fruition. Now Australia is working on a plan for an e-Health national identifier but the project is already over budget and late. In addition to Australia?s poor history with universal identifiers critics of the VET ID are wary that it will be extended to all students from kindergarten on.
