Check out this blog post on Suntimes.com. The crime rate at CTA rail stations has increased by 21 percent regardless of a 26 million dollar effort to decrease crime using high-resolution cameras. Compared to 2010 which was long before the CTA added 3,600 cameras to it’s rails, a 32 percent increase in crime has occurred. Although the cameras do not seem to be having the desired influence on crime in the CTA, reports show that violent crimes have in fact decreased by 30 percent.
