More than 10 percent of the children in a 2011 study were found to be victims of identity theft. With children going back to school, parents need to be more careful with the numerous forms, including for after-school activities, that their children bring home to fill out. Parents should ask the schools how the information will be used, and schools are required by Federal law to give families the right to opt out of releasing the data to third parties.
