An interesting article posted on Emergencymgmt.com. Concerning recovery efforts from disasters, natural and otherwise, a recovery resource manager discusses some of the differences between equipment management and resource management. The equipment is just one resource in the array. Trained personnel, accessory equipment (including adapters), transportation and handling equipment are all necessary in order to implement the use of a piece of equipment. Also resource management deals with the issues of scalability. The example of a small portable generator that is easily handled versus a large community generator is given.
