The Charlotte Observer reports that there are more than 60 felons that have permits allowing them to buy guns. These are in Mecklenburg County. Eleven of these have been convicted of crimes involving guns. Others had used weapons that left victims or government officials injured. More than 230 were involved with drugs. According to the Law in North Carolina, drugs can’t be used while holding a permit for guns. This information is to show the faulty system of permits, detect new criminals, and to revoke gun permits. In North Carolina, you must have a permit to buy guns. Almost all the crimes committed by these felons were committed after having a permit.
