Check out this blog post on Suntimes.com. The United States Supreme Court took a positive, affirmative step in ruling an Illinois eavesdropping law an unconstitutional infringement on First Amendment rights. The court determined that the law’s prohibition against taping police officers violated the right to free speech. Technically, the decision applies only to the ACLU, although legal scholars maintain that in the aftermath of this Supreme Court decision, the holding be given broader application by lower courts.
