The City of Chicago is making big changes to its 911 dispatch system. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, police officers will now only be dispatched to serious crimes, thus reducing the number of police calls. The police superintendent says the change will not be made until the 911 system is upgraded and there is an effort at educating the public about the change. The city says that this change will bring it in line with how other large cities operate their 911 systems.
