I just read an article on Lawenforcementtoday.com that I thought you should read. Florida has a much higher prison population than other states. 65% of people released from Florida prisons are locked up again within five years. This is despite the fact that US crime rates are dropping. Florida?s Department of Corrections will be closing 11 facilities and moving inmates to other locations, and Florida State University has formed a think tank to reform the justice system to lower recidivism. The group has found that Florida?s policies toward inmates often don?t match best practices supported by research and will make concrete recommendations in the weeks ahead.
