Here’s an article worth a read posted on Bgnews.com. After the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007, the university has taken massive steps to improve campus safety with a widespread communication system throughout the campus. There is an optional text and email alert system in place, in addition to the TV and computer screens around the campus that broadcast messages about safety. Furthermore, every classroom is equipped with a telephone that anyone can use to communicate with University officials. In addition, the campus police provides presentations to educate people on how to respond to violent intruders.
